Zoom Meeting, Oct. 17, 2024
Desired Outcome:
To give you information to share about the TreadShare organization
Find some help for Andrea!
Agenda
A. Welcome & Introductions
We had a new member present: Daniel Pershing, Town of Bennett.
Attendance: Jeannie Davis, Aurora Commission for Older Adults; Erwin Germain, guest speaker, TreadShare; Pershing; Andrea Suhaka, Chair; John Voboril, Englewood; Melanie Ward, Centennial; Rachel Walker, Developmental Pathways
B. Review notes from 15 August, 2024
Suhaka gave an update on the Travel Training we sponsored for assisted living facilities. Of 40 facilities invited, 1 took part and a few singles. We had 26 participants who really appreciated the class. I met with folks from the assisted living facility a few days later to answer some questions & deliver Getting There Guides.
C. Information on ride providers.
Many ride providers no longer have spaces in their programs to add riders.
D. Finance Report
Our Treasurer has been ill and I have an older Finance Report. There were 2 finance items emailed with the agenda.
I’ve filed the TSAC Periodic Report on 9/8. In June, I was required to file an IRS statement that we’re still a working organization.
E. TreadShare, Erwin Germain, Executive Director ((founder), erwin@treadshare.com
Bill HB21-1076, Concerning carpooling service internet applications, and, in connection therewith, requiring that application owners or operators register with the department of transportation, made TreadShare possible.
Currently, we’re focused on getting folks to skiing. We’ll be launching a carpool to work section to move to year round.
Davis: Are drivers vetted? We do make sure drivers have a valid license & personal insurance but, we don’t do background checks. Drivers don’t work for us in any way; we just provide a way for them to meet others going to the same place they are.
TreadShare currently has traction with several ski areas and an agreement with Vail (?) for winter carpooling.
A person/group registers with TreadShare and can then search for a needed ride or indicate they s/he will provide a ride. Gas money goes through TreadShare which takes a small percentage.
The PowerPoint is attached with these notes.
F. RTD Director’s Minute: None
G. Results from this year’s resource fairs.
Suhaka participated in 10 resource fairs April through Aug. There were 2 more for which she registered and then couldn’t attend. She had to staff all of these by herself! She desperately needs some help for the coming year, only for an hour or so so, she can take a break.
H. Decision on a 19 Dec. meeting. In person?\
The group decided to cancel the Dec. meeting as too close to the holidays.
I. Wrap Up & Announcements
• Rachel Walker talked about the Developmental Pathways Holiday Outreach program which needs sponsors. You may contact her at r.walker@dpcolo.org if interested.
We urgently need more members to attend our meetings
